NESHANIC STATION, N.J. – The Fairfield University men's golf team carded a fifth-place performance at the Peacock Invitational hosted by Saint Peter's on Tuesday afternoon. Thomas Urciuoli led the Stags in the 18-hole event with a seventh-place mark of 76 (+4).
With a cumulative score of 313, the fifth-place Stags were just two strokes behind third-place Hofstra. LIU Brooklyn won the team crown by five strokes over Rider with a 299.
Urciuoli, who was four strokes off the pace, was followed on the individual leaderboard by teammates Alex Ferrante (78), Eric Austin (79), Kevin Duncan (80) and Kellen Jordan (83).
Hofstra's Eric Shelly won individual medalist honors with only even-par 72 of the day.
Today's round marked the final tune-up for Fairfield prior to the 2016 MAAC Championship. The conference squads will convene at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. from April 22-24.
