Stags to Play 54 Holes This Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's golf team will play two single-day tournaments this week. The Stags hit the course for the Monmouth Invitational (Deal Golf & Country Club in Deal, N.J.) on Thursday and then play close to home on Saturday with two rounds at the Yale Spring Invitational (The Course at Yale in New Haven).

In their most recent outing, the Stags used a strong final-round performance to surge from 10th to third place at the Towson Invitational. Eric Austin finished three strokes off the pace with a 36-hole score of 148 (+4) en route to MAAC Golfer of the Week honors. Kevin Duncan was just one stroke behind him with a 149 (+5).

Fairfield competed in the Monmouth Invitational last spring, finishing fourth of five teams though just seven strokes behind victorious Iona. The Stags played the Course at the Yale during the fall slate; Alex Ferrante led the way with a sixth-place 144 (+4) to guide the team to a third-place showing in the 13-team field at the MacDonald Cup.

After this week's slate, the Stags will play 18 holes at the Peacock Invitational before heading to Disney's Magnolia Golf Course for the 2016 MAAC Championship on April 22-24.
