Retrievers Snatch Victory From Stags

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell 6-1 to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Saturday afternoon.

The Stags dropped at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while the No. 3 spot did not finish.

Fairfield got a singles win at the No. 3 spot from Jeffrey Rodgers who topped Eliott Loubatie 6-1, 6-3. Ofir Solomon pushed Melker Svard to three sets before falling 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. Brad Orban played tough at the No. 1 spot to Justin Carter dropping straight sets 7-6, 7-5. Gabriel Pamich also fought hard in a 7-5, 7-5 loss at No. 6 singles.

“They were the best team we've played all season. Our team is getting closer to some wins, but we're just not quite there yet. Overall I'm happy with how the guys played,” said Head Coach Jeff Bricker after the match.

The men will be back on the courts on Saturday, February 27 at NJIT for a 1:00 pm match time.
