Stags Finish Ninth, Austin Fires Par at Ryan T. Lee Memorial Tournament

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Eric Austin carded an even-par 144 to lead the Fairfield University men's golf team to a ninth-place performance at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Tournament at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, Conn. this past weekend. The Stags finished ninth in the 12-team field.

Austin shot a final-round 71 on Sunday to fuel his two-day 144 for the event. He tied for ninth-place individually, three shots off the pace set by Shane Crampton (St. Francis), Joe Leavitt (Rhode Island) and Joe Walp (Bryant).

Alex Ferrante added a two-day 149 to finish tied for 30th place in the 63-golfer field. Two Stags made their collegiate debuts this weekend as Kevin Duncan recorded a 152 and Thomas Urciuoli notched a 153. Alex Taylor was right on their heels with a 154 to round of the Stags' quintet on the course.

Rhode Island edged Bryant by one stroke to claim the team title with a 574.

The Stags' fall season continues in the Nutmeg State on Sept. 21-22 at the Hartford Hawks Invitational. Action will be held at the Bull's Bridge Golf Course in South Kent, Conn.
