DEAL, N.J. – The Fairfield University men's golf team played its final regular season tournament on Thursday and carded a fourth-place finish at the Monmouth Invitational. Ricky Dowling led the Stags with a fifth-place 74 at the par-71 Deal Country Club.
The five-team field was comprised entirely of MAAC competition, with the Stags' 303 landing them in fourth place. Iona won the event with a 296 – led by an even-par71 from individual medalist Kevin Kramarski. Saint Peter's (298) and host Monmouth (300) edged Fairfield in second and third place, respectively, and Manhattan rounded out the competition with a 310.
Closely following Dowling's 74 were Eric Austin (75), Steve Burak (76) and Patrick Lynch (78) as the four Stags to factor into the team scoring. Peter Repetto added a 78 and Alex Ferrante posted an 84 on the afternoon.
Today's event marked the Stags' final preparation against live competition for the 2015 MAAC Championship, which is slated for April 24-26 at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
