Sean Driscoll Becomes Head Coach At Princeton

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sean Driscoll, the Associate Head Coach who helped the Stags women's soccer team to 51 wins and two MAAC Finals Appearances in his six years on the staff, has accepted a position with the Princeton Tigers as their new head coach.  Fairfield won a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championship in 2012 and have appeared in the MAAC Finals in two straight seasons.

“Today's announcement of Sean Driscoll's acceptance of the Head Coach position at Princeton University is truly bittersweet for our program,” Head Coach Jim O'Brien said. “Sean has had an amazing impact on our program with our athletic department, coaching staff and most importantly our student-athletes. We have all developed a special bond with Sean and his beautiful family. I am confident that Sean will be a huge success at Princeton and we all wish him well.”

Driscoll will now lead a Princeton women's soccer team who has had three-straight winning seasons coming into this season. The Tigers will return Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year in rising junior Tyler Lussi who notched 18 goals last season. The Tigers reached the NCAA tournament in 2012 and advanced to the Second Round after upsetting No. 21 West Virginia. Princeton also became the first team in Ivy League history to advance to the National Final Four in 2004.

The Stags have reached two-consecutive MAAC Tournament Finals and won 14 games last season, their most since 2008. Fairfield also finished 76th in the RPI rankings and scored 41 goals the most in a season since 2001.

A national search will begin immediately for his replacement.
