Sean Driscoll is now in his fifth season with the Fairfield University women's soccer team, serving as associate head coach. In that capacity he plays an active role in every facet of the program, including a prominent role in on-field coaching and the recruiting process.
In four seasons with Driscoll on the staff, the Stags have won 37 games, including an 11-6-2 campaign in 2012 that resulted in a share of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season title. The Stags offensive minded players have seven league honors during that time, with Nikki Stanton earning a pair of First Team accolades and Lauren Reilly being named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region teams the past two seasons.
Driscoll came to Fairfield in 2010 after five seasons as the head coach at MAAC rival Manhattan College, where he posted 40 victories, including a program-record 12 wins in 2005. That win total is one of six single-season team records: consecutive wins, fewest goals allowed, shutouts, win percentage, wins, and assists, which the Lady Jaspers set under his tutelage. In his tenure at Manhattan, Driscoll coached 13 All-MAAC selections, with four All-Rookie honorees, and an impressive 51 selections to the All-MAAC Academic Team.
Driscoll, who graduated from Denison University with a bachelor's degree in history in 1994, got his start at the collegiate level at Western Connecticut State University as an assistant coach. He helped lead the Colonials to the ECAC Division III Championship with an 18-5-2 record.
A native of Trumbull, Conn., Driscoll began his coaching career in Connecticut with stops at New Canaan High School, Brookfield and Green Farms Academy. In three seasons at New Canaan, Driscoll's squad went 52-8-2, including an undefeated (21-0-2) mark in 2002, to finish as co-champions of the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) and third in the national poll. In nine seasons as a scholastic coach, Driscoll compiled a 116-38-13 record.
Driscoll is actively involved in youth soccer in the state and region. The co-founder of the Connecticut Football Club (CFC), he is the director of Connecticut Girl's ODP and is an assistant coach for the Region I U15 girls team.
Driscoll is married to the former Heather Hathorn, who played soccer at the University of Maine, and has two daughters, Braelyn and Beckett.
