The Fairfield University men's cross country team heads to the Fordham Fiasco/Ed Joyce Memorial on September 6 at Van Cortlandt Park. The men's 8K begins at 10:15am.
Fairfield at the Fordham Fiasco: Last season, the Stags placed fourth overall at the Fordham Fiasco. Connor Kelley crossed the line in 27:16.34 followed closely by Nolan Parsley in 27:23.60. Jake Ruskan finished in 27:39.70 and was followed by Dan DeBlock in 27:39.97, Mike Flanagan in 27:51.83, and Frank Segreto in 29:54.17. It was the first time since 2008 in which Fairfield participated in the event.
Last Time Out: The Stags opened the year at the Stony Brook Season Opener last weekend, finishing as the runner-up behind the host Seawolves. Sophomore Sam Daly finished third overall in the men's 6K Daly ran a time of 19:07.86 and was edged out at the line by Stony Brook's Ryan Tancin who stopped the clock at 19:07.45. Sophomore Mike Flanagan placed ninth overall with a time of 19:34.20 while senior captain Jake Ruskan posted a time of 19:59.71.
Looking Ahead: Fairfield is off until September 20 when it travels to Holmdel, N.J. for the Monmouth University Invitational.
