MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's golf team stands in second place after the first round of the ECAC Championships at Lyman Orchards this afternoon. The Stags shot a collective 326.
Individually, junior Olivia Brooks paced the Stags with a first round score of 79 (+7) to finish tied for second with two other competitors. Just one stroke behind, with an 80 (+8), was senior Emma Ritzmann who stands in fifth place overall.
Junior Michelle Applegate carded an 83 to finish tied for eighth overall while senior Katie Rockwell was close behind with a first round score of 84 to tie for 11th place overall. Rounding out play for the Stags was Danielle Dalessandro, who carded an 85 (+13) to tie for 13th place with one other competitor from the University of Hartford.
Siena sits atop the team leaderboard after posting a score of 319 (+31). Fairfield is a close second with a 326 (+38). University of Harford is third with a 331 while the College of Holy Cross trails in fourth, totaling a score of 351.
Fairfield will compete in the second and final round of the ECAC Championships tomorrow. The Stags' earliest tee time is 8:30am.
