Rachel Romansky to Play Professional Volleyball in Denmark

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University alumna Rachel Romansky has signed a professional volleyball contract and will play for Lyngby Indoor Volley Elite (LIVE) in Copenhagen, Denmark. Romansky will join LIVE, one of the top league teams of the Lyngby-Gladsaxe Volleyball Club, at the end of the month.

“I am extremely excited, it's something I've wanted to do since I started playing volleyball. I thought college would be the last time I played, but having this opportunity come about is a dream come true,” Romansky said. “I can't wait to see what it's like in Denmark and what it's like to play on a professional team. I am truly lucky. Without the success I had at Fairfield, I would not have gotten a chance to play overseas.”

Romansky graduated in 2014 as one of the best setters in Fairfield history. She was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Setter of the Year in 2013, becoming only setter in league history to earn the distinction in three consecutive seasons. She also was named the Fairfield University Female Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year as a senior. A two-time First Team All-MAAC honoree, Romansky finished her career with 4,552 assists, good for second all-time at Fairfield, and 1,132 digs, ninth all-time. Romansky is only the second Stag in program history to record more than 4,000 assists and 1,000 digs in a career.

During her senior season, Romansky posted 1,028 assists, 268 digs, 95 kills, and a career-best 31 aces. She was named the MAAC Championship MVP after averaging 12.71 assists with six kills, four aces, and eight digs to help the Stags to their second-straight league title.

Fairfield went 19-13 overall and 14-4 in league play during the 2013 campaign. The Stags captured their second consecutive MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships while making their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
