Women's Golf Atop Leaderboard After Day 1 of Quinnipiac Invitational

CROMWELL, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's golf team stands atop the leaderboard after playing the first round of the Quinnipiac Invitational on Monday, October 20. The Stags shot a collective first round score of 318 (+38) on the par-70, 5,855 yard, TPC River Highlands Golf Course.

Junior Olivia Brooks paced the Stags, carding a 75 to finish tied for second place overall. Senior Katie Rockwell finished close behind, with 79, good to tie for sixth overall.

Senior Emma Ritzmann and sophomore Danielle Dalessandro tied for eighth place, scoring first round 82s. Rookie Molly Hair, who is playing as an individual, carded a first round 85 in her collegiate debut to tie for 17th place.  Rounding out the Stags' effort was Jackie Schofield who carded a 91 to tie for 23rd place.  

After the first day of competition, Fairfield sits atop the leaderboard with a score of 318. The tournament runner-up is the University of Hartford with a 323. Closely behind in third is the University at Albany, with a 326, while host Bobcats follows in fourth with a 335. Delaware State holds the fifth slot, tallying a 340, while Quinnipiac's B squad checks in sixth with a 379.

The Fairfield women's golf team will return to the course tomorrow morning when they compete in the final round of the Quinnipiac Invitational at 10am.
