WALLINGFORD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Golf went up against the elements and several of the region's top teams this week at the Quinnipiac Classic at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford. After Monday's rain shortened Day 1 and turned a 54-hole tournament into a 36-hole affair, the Stags finished tied for fourth on the team leaderboard, led by
Grace Windfelder's 17th place individual performance.
The Stags shared fourth place with Lehigh, besting teams including MAAC foe Sacred Heart along with Monmouth, New Haven, Quinnipiac's B team, Bryant, and Providence. Host Quinnipiac topped Boston College by three strokes to win the tournament, with Harvard placing third.
Windfelder shared 17th place on the golfer leaderboard. The sophomore was only three stokes outside of the top 10.
Sofia Nogalo was one shot behind Windfelder in a tie for 20th place, with
Katelynn Waclawski just one stroke back of Nogalo in 23rd.
Chulathida Seema also cracked the top half of the leaderboard in 33rd place, followed by
Addie Chang and
Ainhoa Jauregi rounding out Fairfield's six golfers on the course this weekend in Wallingford.
Vanessa Zhang was the lone golfer to finish under par through 36 holes, carding a -1 to outpace the field by six strokes.
Fairfield Women's Golf returns to action next week at the Lady Dolphin Invitational hosted by Le Moyne College on Oct. 20-21 in Syracuse.
