REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Three student-athletes from Fairfield University Women's Golf shared 19th place on the individual leaderboard to pace the Stags at the Battle at the Creek. Fairfield finished seventh of 15 teams after 54 holes at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Sofia Nogalo,
Ainhoa Jauregi, and
Chulathida Seema each turned in a three-round 232 to share 19th place in a field of 81 individual golfers. Nogalo fired an even-par 71 in the opening round to record the lowest round by a Stag this week in The First State.
Grace Windfelder was also among the top half of the individual field, tying for 35th place on the leaderboard.
Katelynn Waclawski closed out 54 holes in 55th place and
Addie Chang landed in 58th in her Fairfield debut.
On the team ledger, the Stags were seventh out of the 15 teams to complete all three rounds. The Stags placed third of five MAAC programs at the event, trailing fifth-place Sacred Heart and sixth-place Mount St. Mary's while defeating Manhattan and the debuting Iona Gaels. Fairfield also topped LIU, Monmouth, Bryant, Le Moyne, Wagner and the Columbia 'B' squad on the leaderboard.
Bucknell won the team title by two strokes over Columbia. The Lions' Kristina Xu was the individual champion with a 218 (+5) to edge Bucknell's Joselle Johnson by one stroke.
Fairfield Women's Golf is back on the course on Sept. 29-30 for the SHU Fall Classic at Great River Golf Club in Milford.
