CANTON, Mass. – Fairfield University Women's Golf turned in a fifth-place finish at the Red Bandanna Invitational this week at Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, Mass.
Ainhoa Jauregi paced the Stags over 54 holes, finishing 14th on a packed leaderboard.
The Stags' fifth-place showing in the 15-team field slotted them ahead of teams including Metro Conference foes Quinnipiac, Sacred heart, Manhattan, and Siena as well as regional opponents Boston University, LIU, Le Moyne, Monmouth, Hofstra, and New Haven.
Fairfield's second-round 297 (+9) tied Seattle's final round as the best team round recorded by any team other than host and tournament champion Boston College. The Eagles beat the field by 25 strokes, toppling Seattle, Yale, and Rollins before the Stags in the fifth-place position.
Individually, Jauregi rode a second-round 70 (-2) to a share of 14th place.
Victoria Giang and
Addie Chang shared 31st place to finish in the top half of the 84-golfer field.
Sofia Nogalo,
Chulathida Seema, and Ava Knight (individual) also hit the course for the Stags this week in Canton.
Frances Kim of Boston College earned medalist honors with a 214 (-2) to clip Yale's Hanny Wang by one stroke. BC golfers accounted for half of the individual top 10 as the Eagles rolled to the team title.
Fairfield Women's Golf continues the fall schedule next week in Milford at the SHU Fall Classic on Sept. 28-29 at Great River Golf Club in Milford.
