SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sofia Nogalo won a one-hole playoff to earn medalist honors at the Lady Dolphin Invitational, leading Fairfield University Women's Golf to third place at Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse. Nogalo tied atop the individual leaderboard, and all six competing Stags finished in the top half of the field.
Nogalo defeated UAlbany's Lucia Esteban in a playoff hole to take home the tournament crown after tying through 36 holes at 157. Her 77 (+6) on Tuesday was the low round for a Stag at the tournament and the second-best final round for any of the 60 golfers in the field.
Nogalo was followed on the ledger by three Stags tied for 17th place at 167 –
Alicia Eliasson,
Ainhoa Jauregi, and Tantai Seema.
Katelynn Waclawski and
Grace Windfelder also tied on the leaderboard, sharing 26th place as each posted a 169.
As a team, the Stags finished third – one shot back of second-place Siena and 10 off the pace set by tournament champions UAlbany. Fairfield placed ahead of a roster including Manhattan, Bryant, host Le Moyne, Holy Cross, Providence, Maryland-Eastern Shore, and SUNY Cortland.
The Stags' final round 316 was the second-best team score on Tuesday, trailing only the 313 from Siena that bumped the Saints into second place.
Fairfield Women's Golf completes the fall schedule this weekend with two days at the Lehigh Invitational at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster on Oct. 25-26.
