MILFORD, Conn.-The Fairfield University women's golf team fired a final round 311 to finish with a three-round team total of 955 (+91) to take sixth place out of 15 squads that took part in the Sacred Heart University Fall Classic that took place at the Great River Golf Course in Milford, Connecticut. The Stags improved their team score and moved up the team standings after each round of the 54-hole event, as the team shot an opening round score of 331, placing them in a tie for eleventh place; followed by a second round 313 to move up to a tie for seventh place, and then Monday's final round 311 to finish in sixth.
Host Sacred Heart won the team event with a total of 917 (+53), and Boston University's Amy Han finished atop the individual leaderboard with a 54-hole total of a two over par, 218.
Fairfield finished in front of conference members Siena, Manhattan and Iona at this year's SHU Women's Fall Classic.
The Stags had three golfers finish in the Top-30 of the 74-player event, as Chulathida Seema led the team with a three-round score of 237 (83-79-75) to finish in a tie for 17th place.
Katelynn Waclawski was the next Fairfield finisher with a total of 238 (83-79-76) placing her in a tie for the 22nd spot, and Sofia Nogalo finished tied for 29th place with a score of 241 (82-81-78).
Ainhoa Jauregi tied for 37th with a 244, and Grace Windfelder rounded out the Fairfield five with a score of 247, placing her in a tie for 44th place.
Fairfield also had another group of players compete in the tournament, and Alicia Eliasson led that group of Stags that finished in 13th place with a three-round total of 242 which was good for 32nd place.
The Stags will return to the links on October 13 and 14, when Fairfield will take part in the Quinnipiac Classic that will be played at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford, Connecticut.
