Women?s Golf Travels to the Quinnipiac Invitational

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's golf team heads to its final competition of the 2014 fall campaign on October 18-19. The Stags will travel to Cromwell, Conn. to compete at the Quinnipiac Invitational at the TPC River Highlands Golf Course.

Fairfield at the Quinnipiac Invitational: The Stags were last at the Quinnipiac Classic during Fall 2013. At that event, Emma Ritzmann was the Stags' top finisher, recording a 161 (85-76) to finish tied for third place. She carded 13 pars during the final round. Danielle Dalessandro took nine strokes off of her first round effort to score a 78. She tied for sixth place with a final tally of 165. Michelle Applegate and Olivia Brooks finished as part of a tie for 11th place, shooting 36-hole scores of 169. Brooks shot an 81 in the final round with 10 holes of par or better, while Applegate shot a second-round 82 after a round that saw birdies on the eighth and 12th holes. Katie Rockwell finished in a tie for 15thoverall, with a two-day score of 173, scoring par or better on 13 holes over the two rounds. Rounding out the Stags' effort was Sara Quinn who shot 182, with five pars, to finish in 22nd place.

Last Time Out: The Stags were last in action on October 10-11 when they tied for 15th place at the Rutgers Invitational. Fairfield shot a collective two-day score of 656 (336-320) at the Rutgers Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J. Individually, senior Emma Ritzmann paced the Stags, carding a pair of 80s to finish tied for 26th place overall. Classmate Katie Rockwell finished close behind, taking three strokes off her first round score to card a final round 80. She totaled a two-round 163 to finish tied for 41st place overall. Juniors Michelle Applegate, Olivia Brooks, and Sara Quinn all shot their best round of the tournament in the final round. Applegate took five strokes off her first round score to tally an 80. She totaled a 165 and finish tied for 49th place overall. Brooks tallied a two-day score of 168 (88-80) to finish tied for 63rd place while Quinn carded a 177 (93-84) to finish tied for 80th place.  

Looking Ahead: After this weekend's contest, Fairfield women's golf will have concluded their 2014 fall campaign. The Stags had a successful fall run, in which they captured two consecutive first place team and individual titles. At the 2014 ECAC Championships, on September 29-30, junior Olivia Brooks captured the individual crown while senior Katie Rockwell won the individual title at the Delaware State Invitational on October 5-6. Fairfield will return to the course in the spring of 2015.
