RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Fairfield University men's cross country team placed fourth overall at the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.
Senior
Howie Rosas and senior
John Lobo placed 21st and 22nd, respectfully to lead the Stags in the men's 8K. Rosas posted a time of 26:51.24 while Lobo crossed in 26:51.62, both times ranked in the top-35 performances ever by a Stag at VCP. Freshmen
Sam Daly and
Nolan Parsley were next, finishing in 27:10.05 and 27:11.95, respectfully. Junior
Connor Kelley had a time of 27:17.54 while freshman
Mike Flanagan had a personal best of 27:31.85. Rounding out the top-seven was sophomore
Dan DeBlock who had a time of 27:37.00.

Jake Ruskan posted a time of 27:43.11 while senior
Brian Cleary had a time of 28:00.69. Sophomore
Frank Segreto finished with a time of 29:40.45.
No. 8 Iona repeated as MAAC Champions with the Gaels' Kieran Clements posting a winning time of 25:67.94. Canisius College (73) was the runner-up while regionally-ranked Rider University was third with 109 points. Fairfield was fourth with 119 points while Monmouth University, also regionally ranked, was fifth (133), Marist College was sixth (151), Quinnipiac University was seventh (177), followed by Siena College (198), Manhattan College (221), Niagara University (301), and Saint Peter's University (365).
In addition, Cleary, DeBlock, Kelley, and Ruskan were all named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Fairfield returns to Van Cortlandt Park on November 15 for the 2013 NCAA Regionals.
