NEW BRITAIN, Conn.-The Fairfield University men's cross country team took part in the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State University on Saturday in New Britain's Stanley Quarter Park. The Stags did not finish with a team scor, as only four runners took part in the event that was won Stony Brook University.
Freshman Harrison Caprara led the Fairfield squad on Saturday as he covered the 8200m course in New Britain in a time of 27:13.70.
Classmate Owen Fletcher was next across the line for the Stags in a time of 28:09.70. Fletcher was followed by senior Jack Putnam in a time of 28:56.60 and freshman Joseph Vogel rounded out the Fairfield quartet of racers finishing in a time of 29:14.30.
Stony Brook's Colin Gilstrap took first in the men's race on Saturday in a time of 25:19.30.
Up next for head coach Jake Jayworth's team will be a trip to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Friday, October 3 for the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
