NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country team took to Stanley Quarter Park for the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet this afternoon in their final tune-up before the MAAC Championships.
Freshman
Jacqueline-Ann Willsey was the top-finisher for the Stags in the women's 3K, posting a time of 11:06.70. Sophomore
Kathleen Woods had a time of 11:33.59 while freshman
Sarah Morrissette finished in 11:37.77. Rounding out the group was sophomore
Deirdre Simms in 11:42.37 and freshman
Julia Wood in 12:32.04.
Fairfield placed 14th overall. Providence College and UMass tied for the team title while Bryant's Eimear Black was the individual winner.
Junior
Jake Ruskan was Fairfield's top-finisher in the men's 5K with a time of 15:39.03. Sophomore
Dan DeBlock was next in 15:58.48 while freshman
Mike Flanagan crossed the line in 16:02.54. Sophomore
Frank Segreto ran a 16:32.02 while junior
Steve Piscatelli had a time of 17:02.88.
Fairfield placed 10th out of 15 teams. Providence won the men's team title while Craig Hunt of CCSU was the individual winner.
Fairfield will head to the 2013 MAAC Championships on November 1 at Van Cortlandt Park. The women's 6K begins at 12pm followed by the men's 8K at 12:45pm. For complete event information, visit
