The Stags will open their 2011 campaign at the Marist Invitational on September 3 at Bowdoin Park in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Fairfield will be competing against squads from Marist, Saint Peter's, and Manhattanville.

Fairfield is coming off a solid 2010 season and returns almost all of its squad. Last year, the men's team placed fourth overall at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships while the women's team placed fifth.  In addition, both the men's and the women's teams captured the Fairfield Invitational while the men's team also won the Leeber Invitational.

The men's team will be lead by senior captains Matt Brunelle and Steve Flanagan, who returns after missing 2010 with an injury. The Stags also return sophomore Howie Rosas who was Fairfield's top-finisher four times during his rookie campaign.

Seniors Nikki Livesey, Kristen Golen, and Caroline Riley will lead the women's team. Golen was the Stags top-finisher four times last season. Junior Meghan Sullivan was the top-Stag in four meets last year as well and ran the top-time by a Stag at Van Cortlandt Park at the ECAC Championships.

Fairfield will welcome seven freshmen to the squad. Cate Forte, Maureen Crimmins, and Danielle Renzi will compete for the women's team while the men's team will welcome: Jake Ruskan, Sam Tooley, Connor Kelley, and Kyle Wegner.
