BRONX, N.Y. –
The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams both placed 11th at the 17th Annual John “Paddy” Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park this afternoon.
 
Sophomore Howie Rosas was the Stags top-finisher in the men's 8K, posting a time of 26:27.62 to finish 39th overall. In the women's 6K, freshman Maureen Crimmins was Fairfield's top-finisher, posting a time of 24:12.34.
 
On the women's side, senior Kristen Golen and junior Samantha Goodnow were the next two Stags across the line behind Crimmins. Golen posted a time of 24:26.85 while Goodnow finished in 24:36.52. Freshman Danielle Renzi  clocked a time of 24:40.69 while sophomore Molly Leidig had a time of 24:53.26. Freshman Cate Forte and senior Emily Davis rounded out Fairfield's top-seven with times of 24:53.50 and 25:13.59, respectively.
 
Senior Lauren Londregan had a time of 25:21.90 while sophomore Danica Ceballos finished in 25:35.88. They were followed by senior Caroline Riley in 25:43.41, junior Meghan Sullivan in 26:09.04, sophomore Hillary Maxson in 26:50.07, and sophomore Juli Bassett in 28:58.93.

In the men's race, freshman Connor Kelley posted a time of 26:41.50 while senior Matt Brunelle was close behind in 26:41.91. Junior Kyle Short clocked a time of 26:50.66 while freshman Jake Ruskan finished in 27:03.95. Sophomore Brian Cleary finished in a time of 27:13.88 while classmate John Lobo rounded out the Stags' top-seven with a time of 27:18.16.
 
Freshman Kyle Wegner had a time of 27:48.16 while senior Vin Ferrer recorded a time of 27:54.38. They were followed by junior Greg Chase in 28:01.05, freshman Sam Tooley in 28:05.57, junior Dylan Fisher in 28:10.93, senior Steve Flanagan in 28:21.89, junior Matt Boley in 28:55.05, and junior Ernie Lustenring in 30:04.46.
 
Iona College swept the men's and women's team and individual championships. The fourth-ranked Gaels were led by Leonard Korir who won the event in a time of 24:27.95. For the women, Iona's Hollie Rowland posted a winning time of 21:28.55.
 
The Stags return to action on September 24 when they host the 35th installment of the Fr. Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational on the Fairfield University campus. The women's 5K will begin at 11am while the men's 8K is slated to begin at 11:45am.
