Men's Golf Finishes Play At MAAC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fl. – The Fairfield University men's golf team improved their last season's MAAC Championship finish by three to take fourth place overall this year on Disney's Magnolia Golf Course. As a team, the Stags shot the lowest round on the day with a 301, to end the weekend with a 926 total after shooting a 315, and a 310 on the first two rounds. Loyola remained in the lead the entire weekend and finished the 54 holes with a tournament best 895. Iona followed in second place with a 908, and Siena one stroke behind in third with a 909.

Four out of five members of the men's team stayed consistent or improved their second round score. Nick Taylor paced the Stags with a sixth place finish after shooting a 78, 76, and 74 today to end the three rounds with a 228 total. Joseph Macaluso also shot a team best 74 on the third round to tie for 10th overall. Macaluso shot a 77, and 80 on the first and second round to complete the tournament with a 231. Brendan Carr also placed top-20 with his 233 three-day total. Carr followed his day one and day two score of 78, with a 77 on today's round. One stroke behind Carr was Scott Rainaud who finished the day with a 76. Rainaud placed 20th overall out of the 45 participants. Rounding out the scoring for the Stags was Brendan O'Brien who finished the three-day tournament with a 258 total.
