FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's golf team begins MAAC Championship play tomorrow April 29, on Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena, Fl.
Loyola University leads the MAAC with Iona College in second, and Siena College in third. Fairfield enters the weekend in the fourth spot overall followed by St. Peter's College, Canisius College, Manhattan College, Rider University, and lastly Niagara University. Last year, the Stags finished seventh overall, with Loyola topping the leader board.
Several Stags have performed well this spring. Sophomore
Scott Rainaud enters the championship event with a team best seventh overall finish at the Lonnie Barton Invitational. Sophomore
Nick Taylor also has a top-ten finish under his belt after placing eighth overall at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational, which was the Stags last regular season tournament. Rainaud has a team best 76.14 scoring average, while junior captain
Joe Macaluso has a 77.52, and Taylor is close behind with a 78.05 average.
