Men's Golf Places 5th At Mount St. Mary's Invitati

LITTLETOWN, Pa. – The Fairfield University men's golf team finished fifth overall at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational at Quail Valley Country Club. The Stags finished the 54-hole event with a team total 919. Monmouth was the overall leader with an 896 two-day total.

Nick Taylor paced the Stags after shooting a team two-day team low of 72 on the third round. He finished tied for eighth overall with a three-round score of 224. Joe Macaluso remained 12th overall after shooting a 78 on the final round and a 227 total. Scott Rainaud finished the three rounds with a 232 and placed top 20 as well with a 17th overall finish.

Rounding out the scoring for the Stags were Brendan Carr and Brendan O'Brien. Carr improved his second round score by seven strokes to finish the day with an 80 and a 245 total, while O'Brien shot a 251 on the three rounds.

The Mount St. Mary's Invitational marks the last regular season match for the Stags as they now prepare for the 2011 MAAC Championships at Walt Disney World April 29-May 1.
