Women's Tennis Duo Completes Play at ITA Regional

Women's Tennis Wins 5th Straight At Hartford, 6-1

HARTFORD, Conn. – The women's tennis team won their fifth straight match last night at the University of Hartford. Hartford's lone point of the match came at sixth singles by forfeit.

Monica Yajima and Caroline Emhardt defeated Maggie Sabatino and Ashley Harel 8-1 in the No. 1 doubles spot. At second doubles, Alyssa Ruiz and Victoria Pirrello topped Katina Zampas and Nikki Haynal, 8-3. Hartford's Kaitlin Lennon and Emily Wilhoft won by default in the third doubles spot.


At first singles, Yajima was victorious over Katina Zampas 6-2, 6-2, while Sharissa Ryan balnked Maggie Sabatino, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 spot. At third singles, Emhardt topped Ashley Harel 6-3, 6-1.
Rounding out the scoring for the Stags was Ruiz and Pirrello at fourth and fifth singles respectively. Ruiz defeated Nikki Haynal 6-1, 6-0, and Pirrello beat Lennon, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Emily Wilhoft won by default in sixth singles.

The Stags finish out their regular season at home when they host Siena on April 17. The women's tennis team enters the conference match-up an undefeated 5-0 in conference action. Match time is set for 11am.
