Women's Tennis Blanks Rider, 7-0

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Fairfield Univiersity women's tennis team remained undefeated in the MAAC and improved to 10-7 overall and 5-0 in conference action. The Stags are now on a five match win streak.

In doubles play, Monica Yajima and Caroline Emhardt paired up to blank Marly Roche and Tricia Ashmore 8-0 at first doubles. Kristen Liu and Sharissa Ryan took care of Mallory Garbaravage and Alexa Manforti, 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, while Alyssa Ruiz and Victoria Pirrello won by forfeit in the third position.

At first singles, Yajima won her sixth singles match in a row by defeating Marly Roche, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Ryan topped Tricia Ashmore 6-1, 6-1, while Liu was victorious over Mallory Garbaravage, 6-0, 6-1 in the third singles position. At fourth singles, Emhardt won by forfeit over Danielle White. Rounding out the scoring for the Stags were Ruiz and Victoria Pirrello. Ruiz defeated Kim Leder 6-1, 6-0, and Pirrello topped Alexa Manforti, 6-1, 6-1.

The women's tennis team returns to action on April 14, when they travel to take on Hartford in their last non-conference match. The match time is set for 4pm.
