Men's Golf Finishes 5th At Lonnie Barton Invitati

POOLER, Ga
– The Fairfield University men's golf team finished 5th overall out of nine teams at the Lonnie Barton Invitational. 
 

Scott Rainaud kept up his solid day one play, as he paced the Stags throughout the entire tournament. Rainaud had a day two score of 76 and improved his first day ranking of ninth place to finish tied for seventh overall with a 151 total on 36 holes. 

 

Brendan Carr followed his first round score of 79 with an 80 to finish the invitational with a 159 total. He also improved his first round ranking by one to finish the event tied for 23rd. Joe Macaluso shaved one stroke off his first round score, and ended the two-rounds with a 159 total as well. Macaluso started the invitational tied for 29th, and ended tied for 23rd overall. Nick Taylor tied for 32nd overall with a 161 total after shooting a 78 on the first round, and 83 on the second round. Brendan O'Brien shaved seven strokes off his first day score shooting an 80 for a 167 total.

 

The Stags finished the invitational with a first round score of 312, and a second round of 315 for a 627 team total. Sacred Heart's David Resnik was the individual medalist with his 144 two-day total. High Point topped the leader board with a team total of 597, followed by Sacred Heart (600), Robert Morris (619), Drexel (625).

 

The Fairfield University men's golf team returns to action March 21 at the C&F Bank Invitational at Kings Mill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
