Women's Tennis Blanked By Quinnipiac

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell to visiting Quinnipiac University yesterday afternoon on Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts.
In doubles play, Sharissa Ryan and Caroline Emhardt fell to Juliet Labarthe and Sarah Viebrock in a close 8-6 match in the No. 1 spot. At second doubles, Alyssa Ruiz and Victoria Pirrello were topped by Rachel Cantor and Adrienne Markison 8-5.

Ryan was edged by Rachel Cantor at first singles in a hard fought, three-set match at first singles, 3-6, 6-1, 10-9. At No. 2 singles, Caroline Emhardt was defeated by Juliet Labarthe 6-2, 6-2 while Alyssa Ruiz fell at third singles to Sarah Viebrock 6-0, 6-4. Rounding out singles play for the Stags was Victoria Pirrello who was defeated by Lisanne Steinert 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.

The loss brings the Stags to 6-7 overall heading into the weekend. They return to play April 2 when they travel to take on Loyola for a conference match-up. The match time is set for 1pm.
