Women's Tennis Tops St. Joe's On The Road

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Fairfield University women's tennis team defeated St. Joe's on the road this afternoon in singles play. 

Freshman Monica Yajima prevailed in a tough fought three-set match to St. Joe's Casey Robinson 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 at first singles. At No. 2 singles, Sharissa Ryan continued her win streak by topping Devi Jadeja 6-3, 7-5. Kristen Liu was unable to defeat Maggie Mullaney, falling in a 6-1, 6-0 match at third singles. Caroline Emhardt defeated Tara Walsh 6-2, 6-1 at the fourth singles spot, while Alyssa Ruiz was victorious over Kate Down in a decisive 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 5 singles. Rounding out the winning day for the Stags was Victoria Pirrello who blanked Jenna Procyk 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

The women's tennis team improves to 5-5 overall on the season. They return to action next weekend March 26, when they play Villanova indoors at Yale. The match time is set for 5:30
