Women's Tennis Falls To UConn, 4-2

 FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's tennis fell to non-conference foe UConn this afternoon in singles play. The loss was highlighted by the play of freshmen Monica Yajima and Sharissa Ryan who both won their respective matches.
 
Yajima topped Jennifer Learmonth 6-2, 6-1 at first singles, while Ryan defeated Emily Herb 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot.
 
At No. 3 singles, Kristen Liu fell to Alexa Gregory 6-2, 6-2. Nikki Jackson split her two first sets in a hard fought match, but was unable to hold off Lauren Wilmarth, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-1. Caroline Emhardt also split her first two sets at No. 5 singles, and was unable to prevail over Abby McKeon 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4. Rounding out the scoring for the Stags was Alyssa Ruiz who was defeated by Lucy Nutting 6-1, 6-0.
 
The Fairfield University women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday March 19, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on St. Joes.
