Men's Basketball Hosts Holy Cross For Sunday Matin

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team hosts the College of the Holy Cross for a Sunday afternoon matiinee with tip-off scheduled for 1 pm at Alumni Hall. The game is sold out. This will the men's basketball team's only game on campus this season.

The Stags come off a 67-57 setback against the University of Minnesota, despite having three student-athletes reach double figures in the game. Rakim Sanders and Ryan Olander led all Fairfield scorers with 14 points, while Desmond Wade added 12 markers. Fairfield led by as many as three points in the game, but could not keep the advantage late in the game.

Colin Nickerson recorded his first three steals of the season in the Minnesota game, the 14th time he has registered three or more steals in his career. Last year, Nickerson led the team with 63 steals (1.9 spg). Nickerson played 15 minutes against the Gophers, surpassing his total of 11 minutes combined in the first two games of 2011-12.

Desmond Wade did not turn the ball over against Minnesota, the second straight game that the junior has not committed a turnover. He has not turned the ball over since the 14:31 mark of the second half in the season opener. Over the last two games, Wade played 47 minutes including 26 minutes against Minnesota.

Holy Cross posted its first win of the season with an 86-64 win over Boston College on the road. Devin Brown led all scorers with 32 points and added five rebounds with five assists in the victory. His performance raised his season scoring average to 21 points per game. Dave Dudzinski is the team's top rebounder, averaging 6.3 caroms per game, and is the team's top shooter at 59 percent.
