Biography

2010-11
Sanders came to Fairfield after playing three seasons at Boston College. He spent the season in residency per NCAA transfer rules.

2009-10
Sanders finished the season with 23 starts in as many appearances, averaging 11.3 points and 2.1 assists per game. He was among the team leaders with 29 three pointers, shooting 32 percent from behind the arc. He was one of four Eagles to post a double-digit scoring average in conference play, averaging 10.1 points per game. He started 16 of the team's 16 ACC games. Sanders scored 10 or more points in 16 games, including 11 of his last 12 outings. He tied his season-high with 22 points against Virginia in the ACC tournament. Sanders also reached the 20-point mark against South Carolina (22 points) and NJIT (21 points).

2008-09
Sanders played in and started all 34 games as a sophomore. He was named the team's co-defensive most valuable player with classmate Corey Raji. He averaged 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game overall, and 14.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in conference play. He tallied two double-doubles during the season - 12 points, 10 rebounds against St. John's and 20 points and 10 rebounds at Virginia. He led or was tied for the lead in scoring nine times during the season. He showed his three-point shooting prowess by hitting three or more shots from behind the arc in seven games. Sanders also netted two game-winning field goals as a sophomore, using a put-back basket with 0.4 seconds against Virginia Tech (67-66 win) and a baseline jumper with 1.7 seconds left against Georgia Tech (67-66 win). Sanders netted a career-high 25 points against Virginia in the first round of the ACC Tournament, hitting 11 of 12 free throws in the game.

2007-08
Sanders averaged 11.3 points and 4.6 rebounds overall in 31 starts as a rookie, and tallied 10.2 points and 4.8 caroms per contest in conference play. He tallied a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in a home win over North Carolina State. He reached double figures in 17 games, including five games with 20 or more points - 22 points against New Hampshire in the season opener; 21 markers versus Rhode Island; 20 points in a win over Northeastern; 21 points against Kansas; and 20 points versus Miami. Sanders recorded five or more rebounds in 16 games, including a season-high 12 caroms against North Carolina State.

Before College
Sanders was honored as the 2006-07 Gatorade Rhode Island Player of the Year. He was a two-time All-State first team player, earning the award as a junior and as a senior. He was the most valuable player in the New England Prep School Class B tournament in 2006 and 2007. He averaged 21.3 points and 8.3 rebounds as a senior, shooting 53 percent from the floor. He led St. Andrew's to the NEPSAC Class B championship in 2006 and 2007. He finished his scholastic career with 2,432 points. He played for the Gold team in the 2007 Adidas Kentucky Derby Festival All-Star Classic in Louisville's Freedom Hall.
