AMHERST, N.Y. – Fairfield University freshmen
Connor Kelley and
Maureen Crimmins paced the men's and women's cross country teams to a strong afternoon at the 2011 NCAA Northeast Regionals held at the Audubon Golf Course.
Kelley posted a time of 33:59.4 in the men's 10K to help the men's team to a 25th place finish, a jump of eight spots from one year ago. Crimmins clocked a 23:12.4 in the women's 6K to help the Stags improve five spots as Fairfield tied for 27th place with the University of Rhode Island.
Sophomore
Howie Rosas was the next Stag across the line for the men, finishing in 34:03.7. Junior
Kyle Short clocked a personal best of 34:13.8 while freshman
Kyle Wegner posted a time of 34:34.7. Freshman
Jake Ruskan had a time of34:39.8. Rounding out the Stags were senior
Matt Brunelle who finished in 34:40.9 and sophomore
John Lobo who had a time of 35:01.0.
On the women's side, junior
Sam Goodnow had a time of 23:49.4 while senior
Kristen Golen finished in 23:56.8. Freshman
Danielle Renzi registered a personal best, finishing in 23:58.3. Senior
Lauren Londregan had a time of 24:24.3 while sophomore
Molly Leidig and senior
Emily Davis rounded out the group with times of 25:00.9 and 25:02.3, respectively.
Syracuse University repeated as the men's and women's NCAA Regional champions. Iona College's Leonard Korir captured the men's 10K individual title with a time of 31:10.4 while Dartmouth College's Abby D'Agostino captured the women's 6K individual title with a time of 20:25.3.
Fairfield will close out the 2011 campaign on November 19 when the Stags travel to Van Cortlandt Park for the ECAC/IC4A Championships.
