FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The women's tennis team will start their 2011 spring season by hosting Fordham University this Saturday, January 29 at Stamford Indoor Tennis Club. The match time is set for 7pm.

The Stags are coming off a solid fall and look to defend their 2010 MAAC Championship this season. They blanked Manhattan 6-0 in their only dual match of the fall.

The women's tennis team shut down the Fordham Rams, 7-0 in their season-opener last year. The Stags look to start their season off on a the same note Saturday behind the leadership of senior co-captains Kristen Liu (Closter, N.J.) and Alyssa Ruiz (Glen Head, N.Y.). Sophomore Nikki Jackson (Hackensack, N.J.) joins the seniors as the third returner from last season as the Stags welcomed five talented freshmen this fall in, Caroline Emhardt, Carolina Koladzyn, Victoria Pirrello (Staten Island, N.Y.), Sharissa Ryan (Bedford Hills, N.Y.), and Monica Yajima (Greenwich, Conn.).

The home opener marks the first of a three-match stint at home for the Stags as they host Stony Brook February 4 at 8pm, and NJIT on February 12 at 7pm.
