SOUTH KENT, Conn. - Sean Deale leads the Stags after the first round at the Hartford Hawk Invitational.
The Stags are currently in a three way tie for 8th place with Temple University and Drexel University. All three teams shot a team total of 309 at the par 72, 6992 yard course this morning.
Despite the rainy weather, senior
Sean Deale (Newton, Mass) shot a 37 on the front and back nine for a total of 74 on round one. His first round performance has earned him tied for 14th overall. Two strokes behind Deale is junior
Joe Macaluso (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who shot a 38 and 39 for a round one total of 77.
Scott Rainauld (South Hadley, Mass.) and
Nick Taylor (Southbury, Conn.) both shot a 79 on the day. Rainaud shot a round of 40 on the front nine and one stroke better on the back nine for a 39. Taylor shot a 38 and a 41. Rounding out the Stags scoring was sophomore
Brendan O'Brien (Colts Neck, N.J.) who shot a 41 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine for an 87 total.
UConn leads the way with a team total of 290. Darmouth is right behind the Huskies with a team total of 291 after day one at Bull's Ridge Golf Course.
Play will continue Tuesday morning at 9am when all 15 teams will play two more rounds to finish out the 54-hole event.
