Men's Golf Finishes Third At ECAC Championship

EGG HARBOR CITY, N.J.
– The men's golf team posted a Top Three finish at the Division I ECAC Championship this weekend on the par 72, 6721 yard Twisted Dunes Golf Course. After day one, Fairfield was two strokes behind first place Boston College. As a team the Stags finished with a first round of 307 and a second round of 305 for a 612 total.
 
Senior Sean Deale (Newton, Mass.) paced the Stags with a 77 on the first round, while shooting a four stroke better second round of 73. His 150, (+6) total earned him tied for sixth overall. Sophomore Scott Rainaud (South Hadley, Mass.) finished two strokes behind Deale with a 152 (+8) total. Rainaud shot a 75 and 77 on the two rounds, also securing a top ten spot by earning eighth place overall.
 
Sophomore Nick Taylor (Southbury, Conn.) and junior Joe Macaluso (Clifton, Mass.) also finished top 20 for the Stags as they both shot a 156 total to tie for 17th overall with four other players. Taylor shot consistent 78's on the two rounds while Macaluso finished round one with a 77 and round two with a 79.
 
Sophomore Brendan Carr (Langhore, Pa.) wrapped up the Stags' scoring finishing tied for 25th with a 158 two round total. Carr began the tournament with a first round of 81 and improved his start by four strokes to finish round two with a 77.
 
Boston College held on to their day one lead to capture the 2010 ECAC Division I Men's Championship with a team score of 594 (305, 289). Mt. St. Mary's University finished second, seven strokes above Fairfield with a 605. The men's golf team returns to action October 10-12 at the Connecticut Cup hosted by the University of Connecticut. The tournament will be held at Elington Ridge Golf Course.
