HANOVER, N.H. - Freshman Monica Yajima (Greenwich, Conn.) and Carolina Koladzyn (New York, N.Y.) were the only Fairfield representative in this weekend's USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships at the Boss Tennis Center.

In singles play, Yajima had a bye in the Round of 128, but then fell to Princeton's Taylor Marable 6-4, 6-2, in the round of 64.

The freshmen duo participated in doubles play together but were topped in a hard fought match to UConn's Emily Herb and Jennifer Learmonth 8-6 in their opening match.

The ITA Northeast Regional marked the end of fall play for the Stags. The fall marked several successful moments for the women's tennis team, especially for their freshmen as several of them earned their first individual titles. Monica Yajima, Carolina, Koladzyn, and Caroline Emhardt (Carmel, Ind.) all earned their first title at the Quinnipiac Invitational. Yajima and Koladzyn captured Pool A in doubles play, while Emhardt took home the Pool D singles title. Sharissa Ryan (Bedford Hills, N.Y.)  joined her classmates when she captured Flight Three singles in the New England Championships. Freshmen duo of Koladzyn and Ryan also won Flight Two in doubles play. The Stags also performed well as a team, blanking Manhattan (6-0) in their first dual match of the 2010-2011 season.
