Five Stags Earn MAAC Softball Postseason Honors

Paravati Named Defensive Player Of The Year

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Five Fairfield University softball student-athletes were honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as the conference announced its annual postseason awards on Monday.

Junior infielder Anna Paravati earned the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award to highlight the Stags' award winners. She was also placed on the All-MAAC second team. Outfielder Charli Warren, pitcher Alyssa Weinberg, and catcher Delaney Whieldon captured a berth to the All-MAAC first team while outfielder Ava Armuth garnered a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie team.

Paravati performed admirably both at third base and in the batter's box this season, leading the team with 77 assists as well as with 32 RBI over her 49 starts. She finished the regular season with a .966 field percentage, picking up 36 putouts in addition to her 77 assists in 117 total chances. Offensively, Paravati showed consistency all season, opening the year with a 13-game hitting streak and picking up a hit in 34 of her 49 appearances.

Warren continued to build on her storied career at Fairfield, registering a team-best .381 batting average off 61 hits with six doubles and four triples. Her base-running skills are evident through her team-leading 44 runs scored and 25 stolen bases. Her stolen base total is best among all MAAC student-athletes while her other MAAC statistical placements include seventh in batting average, sixth in on-base percentage (.471), fourth in runs scored, and sixth in hits.

Weinberg is also included across several MAAC pitching statistical categories, highlighted by her second-place position with 17 wins on the season. She is also top five in the MAAC for ERA (5th - 2.24), innings pitched (4th - 165.1), and strikeouts (t-2nd – 175). She fanned 10 or more hitters in four games this year including a personal-best 16 against Merrimack College. In that game, Weinberg struck out the first 10 batters she faced before settling on her final number.

Whieldon emerged as one of the top defensive catchers in the conference in addition to becoming one of the team's most productive hitters. She completed the regular season with a .296 batting average in addition to registering a team-best four home runs in her 46 appearances. Whieldon was one of three Stags with 20 RBI in 2025, posting 21 with at least one in 16 games. She put together a streak of six straight games with an RBI in early March. Defensively, she owned a .996 fielding percentage with one error in 242 chances.

Armuth brings a .272 batting average into the postseason while her 11 extra base hits are best among Fairfield freshmen. She registered five doubles, three triples, and three home runs during her inaugural season which helped her accumulate 19 RBI over her 45 appearances. The rookie, who also earned a MAAC Rookie of the Week during the season, stroked two or more hits in nine games this year.

The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, open play in the 2025 MAAC Championship this week as the number two seed. The Stags are scheduled to play their first game in the tournament on Thursday at 10 am with the opponent to be determined.
