Biography

2025: Delaney Whieldon, an All-MAAC first team catcher, represented the team’s top home run hitter in 2025, clearing the fence four times this year. She hit a home run against Canisius, Charleston Southern, Central Connecticut, and Niagara. The catcher was one of three Stags with 20-plus RBI during the 2025 season, joining Anna Paravati (33) and Faith Camilleri (32). She has two multi-RBI games, sending home three runners against Charleston Southern and a season-bet four RBI in the opening game against Niagara. She put together a six-game hitting streak late in the season, registering a hit against Yale, in all three Niagara games, and both Sacred Heart contests. She posted 13 games with two or more hits including two against Quinnipiac to end the regular season and two more in the MAAC Championship (Iona and Siena). Defensively, Whieldon threw out 12 base runners attempting to steal in 2025. She made one error in 264 chances (247 putouts and 15 assists).

2024: Whieldon ranked as one of the team’s top offensive threats in 2024, collecting eight extra base hits with five doubles, two triples, and a home run. She scored 13 runs in addition to driving in 13 runs off her 26 base hits during the year. She started 42 of her 43 appearances, finishing with a .243 batting average. Her six sacrifice bunts was second on the team. She picked up a hit in 20 games highlighted by her season-long eight-game hitting streak late in the season (12 hits, 24 at-bats, 3 RBI, .500 batting average). She hit her lone home run in a win over Purdue Fort-Wayne as she ended the contest with three RBI and two runs scored.

2023: Whieldon emerged as one of the Stags top run producers, placing second among her teammates in overall RBI (23) and RBI vs. MAAC opponents (10). She was the team’s top hitter against non-conference opponents this year, posting a .350 batting average (21 for 60) in 22 games played. She tallied two or more hits nine times this season including three-hit performances against Central Connecticut, Rider, and Marist. In her first collegiate game, she went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI in a win over Monmouth. She posted a hit in 25 of her 43 appearances which included a six-game hitting streak from April 3-8, registering nine hits in 22 at-bats (.409 batting average). The first game during that hitting streak was a productive one as Whieldon went 3 for 4 with five RBI in a win against Rider. She drove in eight runs over the final 10 regular-season games, helping the Stags win 8 of 10 decisions. She was the starting catcher in two of her three MAAC Tournament appearances.
