EDISON, N.J. – Five student-athletes representing Fairfield University Women's Tennis earned All-MAAC recognition for the 2024-25 season, which was announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Thursday morning. The ledger was highlighted by three Stags to collect All-MAAC First Team honors.
Victoria Mandma was tabbed for the All-MAAC First Team in both singles and doubles – one of four players merit dual First Team honors. Mandma played seven MAAC matches at #1 singles during her freshman campaign, posting a 5-2 record in those outings.
Mandma and
Maria Gell were selected for All-MAAC First Team in doubles after recording a 4-1 record in the top flight during league play.
Also earning a First Team distinction was
Anna Neyestani. The sophomore was 5-2 in MAAC play with a 4-2 record at #2 singles as well as a 1-0 mark in the #1 spot. Overall this season, Neyestani owns a team-best 22 singles victories. She won the inaugural MAAC Masters Tournament this fall to advance to the ITA Conference Masters, where she picked up a win on the national stage before falling to the nation's second-ranked player and eventual tournament champion – Sofia Johnson of Old Dominion – in the Round of 16.
Maeve Cassidy picked up an All-MAAC Second Team nod as a singles player after finishing conference play at a perfect 6-0 at #6 singles. Cassidy is now a three-time All-MAAC honoree in her career after being tabbed as All-MAAC First Team in singles and Second Team in doubles as a rookie last spring.
On the doubles courts, Neyestani and
Lily Malinowski earned All-MAAC Second Team recognition. The tandem was 5-1 in MAAC matches, posting a 4-1 record at #3 doubles in addition to a win playing at #2.
Malinowski was previously named All-MAAC First Team in singles and All-MAAC Second Team in doubles last spring as a freshman.
As the #2 seed in the MAAC Championship, the Stags have earned a bye to the semifinals. Fairfield begins the postseason this Saturday, April 26 against either Niagara or Marist. First serve from Mercer County Park is set for 2 p.m.
