Box Score WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis completed an eventful and well-traveled opening weekend with three wins in a hidden dual at Army West Point. The clash on base in New York was the third day of the Quinnipiac Invitational.
On the singles courts,
Anna Neyestani and
Lily Malinowski each earned a win in a third-set tiebreaker. The duo of
Victoria Mandma and
Yana Razina picked up Fairfield's lone doubles win, coasting to a 6-0 victory.
The "hidden dual" format is a head-to-head meeting between two teams where individual results of all completed matches are official, but an overall team score is not recorded.
Despite competing in the three-day Quinnipiac Invitational, the Stags competed on three different campuses this weekend. Fairfield hosted a hidden dual with Sacred Heart on Friday, challenging New Haven in Hamden on Saturday, and visited Army West Point on Sunday. Also of note, none of the Stags' 38 matches this weekend pitted Fairfield against Quinnipiac.
Fairfield Women's Tennis returns to Army in two weeks for the West Point Invite on Sept. 25-27.
