EDISON, N.J. – Anna Neyestani has been selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week. Neyestani earned wins in both singles and doubles in last weekend's win for Fairfield University Women's Tennis at Seton Hall.
Neyestani assumed the #2 Singles spot in the Stags' lineup against the Pirates, where she cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Seton Hall's Imogen Brooker. She paired with
Lily Malinowski at #3 Doubles, taking a 7-6 (4) win over Isabelle Einess and Hili Kronzon to help clinch the doubles point for Fairfield.
In her first season with the Stags, Neyestani is 13-8 in singles action and 8-7 on the doubles courts. She won the inaugural MAAC Masters Tournament this fall and went on to reach the Round of 16 at the ITA Conference Masters, where she fell to eventual tournament champion Sofia Johnson of Old Dominion -- the #37 ranked player in all of Division I tennis, an NCAA Singles All-American and the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year.
Fairfield Women's Tennis is back on the court this Saturday, Feb. 22 to host Bryant at 11 a.m., indoors at Magic Lincer Tennis Club in Manchester.
