FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Six members of the Fairfield University Women's Soccer team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District squad by maintaining a 3.5 GPA in the classroom and finding success on the pitch.
Meghan Carragher,
Sam Kersey,
Katie Wright,
Cassidy Clinton,
Phoebe George, and
Ashlyn Walsh were all honored with a spot on the team.
"I am very proud of the players for this accomplishment," Head Coach
David Barrett said. "I think our team is always a stand-out in the classroom, and it is wonderful that these women are getting some well-earned recognition."
Carragher, a two-year team captain, earned a 3.78 GPA as a finance major in the classroom while also being voted the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches. Carragher was a key instrument in Fairfield's success on the back line, holding teams to a 0.63 goals against average.
Wright also earned a major award from the conference as she was selected for the MAAC Golden Glove award, given to the best goalkeeper in the conference. Wright became Fairfield's all-time wins leader as she became the first Fairfield goalkeeper to eclipse 50 wins. In the classroom, she maintained a 3.77 GPA as a biology major.
Kersey was also an All-MAAC First Team selection, the second-straight season she was picked as one of the best midfielders in the conference. She finished third on the team with six goals which set a new career-high. Kersey has recorded an amazing 3.96 GPA and will graduate in May with a finance degree.
All-MAAC Third Team members Clinton and Walsh were also recognized for their success in the classroom. Walsh has continuously maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA with a public health degree through her first three collegiate semesters. In her first season as a Fairfield starter, Clinton continued her success on and off the pitch with a 3.70 GPA as a finance major.
George also earned a spot on the All-District squad with her 3.97 GPA with a public health degree. George started 15 games while appearing in all 19 matches on the Fairfield stingy backline.
The six-member group helped the Stags to 15 victories in 2025 while also claiming their second-straight MAAC Regular Season Championship. The Stags earned the top-seed in the MAAC Championships for the third time in the last four seasons.
