Three Stags Earn All-New England Honors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer trio of Maddy Theriault, Sam Kersey, and Katie Wright were recognized among the best in the region as they earned spots on the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England teams. Theriault, the MAAC Golden Boot, was named to the First Team. Kersey, a team captain earned Second Team honors while Wright, the MAAC Golden Glove received Third Team laurels.
 
Theriault enjoyed an historic career, being named the MAAC's best offensive player in two-straight seasons with the MAAC Golden Boot. She finished her Fairfield career ranked second with 46 career goals while also placing second with 113 points. In her senior campaign, she led the conference with 15 goals which was the third-most in a single-season in program history. Her career also features four All-MAAC First Team selections, three ECAC honors, three All-Region selections, and a MAAC Championship MVP.
 
Kersey earned her first All-New England honor after being named to the All-MAAC First Team for the second-straight season. She set a career-high with six goals and 13 points during her senior season with five of those scores came during MAAC play. She also recorded three points against Iona with a goal and an assist. She was named to the All-MAAC Tournament team in back-to-back campaigns.
 
Wright capped her career by being rewarded the MAAC Golden Glove given to the conference's best goalkeeper. She became the program's all-time wins leader recording her 53rd career victory this year. She finished third in the conference with a .732 goals against average which was in the top-40 in the country. She also posted four shutouts bringing her career total to 22, the fourth-most in program history. She also received honors from the ECAC and the United Soccer Coaches while also earning her first career nod on an All-New England team.
 
The trio led the Stags to the fourth-highest winning percentage in Division I which also included a 16-match unbeaten streak. Fairfield went unbeaten during the MAAC Regular Season with a 10-0-2 mark, becoming first Fairfield team since the 2002 squad. Over the past two seasons, Fairfield holds the highest winning percentage in the country with their 33-5-3 mark.
