Box Score 3 VESTAL, N.Y. – Fairfield University Men's Tennis earned a total of 12 victories this weekend at the NateRentals.com Hidden Duals hosted by Binghamton University. The Stags competed against student-athletes from Army West Point, LIU, Monmouth, and the host Bearcats.
"I couldn't have asked for a better final weekend of the fall season for both teams [men's and women's]. They competed hard all weekend. They did a great job of bringing energy for each other all weekend," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "It was a great conclusion to the fall, and I think both teams are going to be ready to go from match one in January. Alex and Diego also got some competitive matches in before they head to San Diego in 10 days."
Zach Whittington headlined the singles success for Fairfield with two victories, down opponents from both LIU and Monmouth.
Luca Benaibbouche,
Calum Jessett,
Kostas Kollias, and
Domagoj Stabek each added one win on the singles courts.
In doubles action, Stabek went 2-0, playing alongside
Alexander Di Staulo to take down a team from LIU and pairing with Jessett to beat an Army West Point tandem. Di Staulo and Benaibbouche also teamed up to earn a doubles win.
Another doubles highlight came from the debut of
Pol Otin, who made his Fairfield debut after missing all of last season due to injury. Otin went 2-1 teamed with Kollias, earning wins over teams representing Army and Binghamton.
Alex Aguiar and
Diego Alcala also notched a victory, besting a team from Army West Point. Earlier this month, the duo won the MAAC Masters Championship and will represent Fairfield and the MAAC at the ITA Conference Masters Tournament beginning on Nov. 6 in San Diego.
