FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis is set to begin action in the 2025 MAAC Masters Tournament this Friday at Quinnipiac. The tournament will feature 26 of the conference's top singles players and 17 of the premier doubles teams playing for the right to represent the MAAC next month at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in San Diego.
Headline the Stags' representatives in singles action in reigning MAAC Masters Champion
Anna Neyestani. The third-seeded player in the bracket won the inaugural edition of the tournament last fall and went on to win a match at the ITA Masters before falling to the eventual tournament champion in the Round of 16. Neyestani has earned a bye to the Round of 16 and will compete at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday against the winner of the First Round match featuring Marist's Yasmin Asnis and Mount St. Mary's Venus Tang.
A pair of Fairfield newcomers will also enter the singles bracket.
Sophia Harris is set to challenge Hana Hofmanova of Sacred Heart at 9 a.m. on Friday and
Regina Herrera will meet Manuela Gomez of Siena at 10:30 a.m., both in the Round of 32. The advancing player will return to action later on Friday in the Round of 16.
The quarterfinals and semifinals of the singles bracket will be held on Saturday, with the MAAC Masters Championship Final set for Sunday.
The #4-seeded doubles team of Neyestani and
Maria Gell as well as the tandem of Harris and Herrera will also be in action in the Round of 16 on Saturday in Hamden.
