Andersen Named MAAC Player of the Week

EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Basketball sophomore Road Runner Meghan Andersen was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week for the first time this season and the third time in her career. Andersen averaged 27.0 points per game while shooting 65 percent from 3-point range in two dominating wins for the Stags and leading them to sole possession of first place in the conference.

"We are excited for Meg to have earned the Player of the Week award after a stellar two games in Buffalo," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "The fact that this is our team's first Player of the Week award shows how balanced we've been all season long. This week, Meg was not only a threat with her shooting, but she did a great job playmaking for her teammates as well."

Andersen highlighted her dominating week with a career-high 34-point performance at Canisius, tying for the sixth-most in a game in program history. In her historic outing, Andersen drilled seven 3-pointers, including the 100th of her career. She became the 17th Stag ever to reach triple-digits in trifectas, including only the second to do so during her sophomore season.

In the game against the Griffs, Andersen also dished out a career-high five assists without a turnover. She also swatted two blocks and picked up a steal.

Andersen recorded 20 or more points in both contests and have now tallied 10 20-point games in her career. In total, Andersen averaged 27.0 points, 5.5 3-pointers, 4.0 rebounds 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks in the week.

In just 49 games of her career, Andersen has tallied over 750 career points, 100 3-pointers, 220 rebounds, and 60 blocks.

The two wins improved Fairfield's conference record to a perfect 7-0 and put them in sole possession of first place. It increases the Stags' winning streak against conference opponents to 30-straight, dating back to over 670 days.

Andersen and the Stags are back in action on Thursday morning in the annual Kids' Day Out contest when they welcome a sold-out crowd of local school kids and face Manhattan at 11am.
