FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will open up Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play when the squad hosts Rider on Saturday at 1:30pm. Fairfield enters conference play with a 4-1 record with the four victories tied with Niagara as the most in the conference. The Stags are also in the midst of a five-match homestand and are 3-0 on the Lessing Field pitch this season. Dating back to last season, the Stags have won six-straight matches on their home field.
Fairfield is coming off a week-long break after their most dominating performance of the season, a 5-0 shutout against previously unbeaten Fordham. The Stags were led by four different goal scorers including a pair who netted their first collegiate goals in
Kaitlyn McQueeney and a highlight reel one-timer from
Kacie Benn.
Dana Nadda also scored for the Stags while Maddy Theriauly tallied the first two scores of the match.
Through five games, the Stags have a pair of leaders on top of their goal scoring column with Theriault and freshman
Ashlyn Walsh leading the squad with three. The duo rank second in the MAAC in scoring and fourth with seven points.
Fairfield also enters play second in the MAAC with 12 goals and 31 total points. Fairfield is attempting 15.2 shots per game with 8.4 of those on target, pacing the conference in both statistics.
Rider enters plays with a 1-3-1 overall record with a 5-0 victory over Delaware State. Freshman Tess Ferrie scored all three of her goals and dished out an assist in the victory.
The Stags will continue their longest homestand of the year when they welcome Iona to Lessing Field on Saturday at 7pm.
