EDISON, N.J. – After pacing Fairfield University Women's Cross Country and beating the field at the Marist Season Opener,
Hannah Snayd has been named the MAAC Women's Runner of the Week. Snayd won Saturday's 5K by more than 21 seconds.
Making her cross country debut, Snayd broke the tape with a time of 17:56.6 on Saturday. The second-place harrier – Marist's Parker O'Brien – crossed the line in 18:17.7. O'Brien finished 12th overall in last season's MAAC Championship.
Snayd also outpaced runners from UConn, UAlbany and Siena in addition to host Marist. As a team, Fairfield finished fourth in the five-team field.
Snayd is the Stags' first MAAC Women's Runner of the Week since current Fairfield Assistant Coach
Courtney Kitchen earned the distinction in 2022.
Fairfield Cross Country returns to action next Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Jasper Fall XC Invite at Twins Ponds on the Farm, which is also the site of the 2024 MAAC Championship.
